With so many types of performance monitor available from speed + distance, to heart rate or monitors that utilise both heart rate plus speed + distance it is difficult sometimes to decide which product will you personally get the most benefit from during your training programme, us firendly people at Fitness Monitors UK are here to cast some light on the purchasing descision, and no we are not just going to point you in the direction of the most expensive product. For why, firstly as a business we want you to come back and if we give you naff advice you won't do that, and secondly it is simply not the case, the best product is the one that will give you the information that will help you achieve your fitness or performance goal most effectively. For some that will be the basic sports watch or basic continuous display heart rate monitor, for some one else it will be the product that stores all the relevant information whilst training and downloading itto a computer for further analysis. In fact our best advice is often helping people to realise they don't need to spend a lot of money to achieve what they want to achieve.
When it comes to heart rate monitors we know a thing or two. We have been selling and advising people on the use of heart rate monitors since 1990. Our company founder, from circa 1987 was one of the first athletes to train with the then new technology of wireless heart rate monitors, consisting of a chest strap transmitter and a rather large watch capable of displaying a continuous heart rate. During the late 1980's and early 1990's these heart rate monitors revolutionised the way athletes trained.
The technology has now, over some 15 years progressed at an amazing rate to the point where the jewel in the crown of heart rate monitors is probably the Timex Bodylink Plus, which is not only a sophisticated heart rate monitor, but a 100 lap memory based chronogrpah, interval timer, but also a speed, distance and pace tracking device using Global Positioning Satelite technology, furthermore with the addition of a small optional extra called a Timex Data Recorder 2, it is possible to store up to 72 hours of heart rate data, plus location data, speed and distance performance data and download all of this to a PC for further analysis. And because today's technology also integrates with other manufacturers software products the data can be downloaded on to Memory Map's digital Ordnance Survey Mapping Software
