With more than 90 years of experience in bicycle production, Monark has developed a deep tradition of knowledge, experience, and a real feel for product and quality. Since the early 1900s, Monark cycles have been a true proof of precision, reliability and strength of service. This is one of the reasons why Monark is now the world leader in cycle ergometers. Monark manufactures, develops and markets ergometers and exercise bikes for health care and sports medicine departments. Being a global brand, Monark delivers products with extremely high functionality and quality that fulfils requirements for safety, quality and professionalism.
Monark 874E Aerobic Fitness Cycle A new weight ergometer with a softer design, more stable and enforced frame. Firstclass new instrumentation to measure heart rate by using a chest belt, speed, pedal revolutions, distance, time, calorie consumptions and power in watts. Still left in the new bike is the traditional and safe measurement system with improved mechanics.
The Wingate test, also known as the Wingate Anaerobic Test (WANT), was developed at the Wingate Institute, in Israel, during the 1970s. The Wingate test requires the subject to pedal a mechanically braked bicycle ergometer, for 30 seconds, at an “all out” pace. A counter is used to record revolutions of the flywheel in 5-second intervals. On commencing the test (usually by a verbal signal from the tester), the individual pedals all out with no resistance. Within 3 seconds, the predetermined fixed resistance is applied to the flywheel and remains there for the duration of the 30- second test.
Monark 839 E is one of the world’s most accurate cycle ergometers. It is especially used for fitness assess-ment and stress testing. Computerised with removable control unit, program-med with Åstrand, Bruce, YMCA, Naughton, Ramp, Incremental, amongst others, plus target heart rate adjusted workload. Individual exercise protocols can be programmed and stored.
Monark's Ergomedic 828e is the successor to the extremely successful and defacto standard cycle ergometer for aerobic testing the Monark 818e, often referred to as the Astrand cycle after the world leading expert in Ergomery. The 828e has a new design featuring a completely housed flywheel and a further strengthened frame. The newly designed instrumentation panel now displays effective output in watts and using a telemetric transmitter heart rate is also displayed. The display aslo features pedal turns per minute, cycling time in minutes & seconds, target or intended cycling speed in kilometres or miles per hour and distance covered in kilometres or miles. In addition braking power can be set, giving a reading of calorie consumption and power in watts. The Monark 828e maintains its commitment to the balanced pendulum system - it provides an effective measurable resistance braking mechanism. A system that can claim to be the most widely used test cycle system in the world, recognised by exercise physiologists as the research standard, in part due to its ability to be easily calibrated and checked for calibration within the laboratory, sport science centre or consulting rooms.
